Bola Ahmed Tinubu, representing the All Progressive Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of the Nigerian Presidential elections. He is now tentatively, the President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
In an exercise which the opposition parties have described as a sham, the candidate for the APC won with 8,794,726 votes accounting for 36.61% of the total ballots.
He was followed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who had 6,984,520 votes accounting for 29.07%.
Labour Party’s Peter Obi, who was the favourite to win, came a distant third with 6,101,533 votes accounting for 25.4%.
This means Tinubu surpassed Mr. Obi with 2,693,193 votes.
The big question remains: Why did many registered voters not vote in this election?
