LIVERPOOL FACE THEIR NIGHTMARE TODAY
Over the past 12 to 13 years, Real Madrid have been the dark horses of Liverpool.
Their most recent clash was in last year’s Champions League final in Paris where Real Madrid best the Reds 1-0. Prior to that, both sides met at the quarter-finals of the 2020-2021 season. Before then, the teams clashed in the 2018 final, and Los Blancos carried the day 3-1.
In the 2014-2015 season, both sides locked horns in the group stages of the competition. Real Madrid edged Liverpool 1-0 in the Bernabeu, and put 3 pass the Reds at Anfield in a 3-0 triumph.
To see the last time Liverpool tasted victory against Real Madrid, we have to go back to the 2008-2009 season. In the Round of 16, the Reds beat the Merengue 1-0 in Spain, and went on to register a cracking 4-0 win in England.
The clubs’ first-ever UCL clash dates back to 1980-81 final, which saw Liverpool win by a goal to zero.
