Pele's Final Journey, Rip Legend

Pelé, widely known as the Brazilian king of football, breathed his last on Thursday. He was 82.

Pelé, who has three World Cups under his belt was undergoing treatment for colon cancer since 2021. The football legend died at 11:57 pm IST of multiple organ failure in the medical center he was hospitalized last month. Pelé agent Joe Fraga confirmed his death.

A funeral is planned for Monday and Tuesday wherein his casket will be carried through the streets of his hometown Santos, before burial.

Considered one of the greatest footballers of all time, Pelé spent nearly two decades enchanting fans and dazzling opponents as the game’s most prolific scorer with Brazilian club Santos and the Brazil national team.
